This video demonstrates the extremely low backlash performance and precision repeatability of Apex Dynamics planetary gearboxes.
Two aluminium discs are mounted by separate AE gearboxes to servo motors controlled in a counter rotating configuration. To really show the precision of this synchronised controlled performance, a single 0.5mm pencil lead in introduced between each disc. The discs are perfectly synchronised during acceleration, constant speed, deceleration, gentle or extreme reversing and either fast or slow movement. The discs are so precise that the fragile pencil lead remains unbroken throughout.
